Larry and Serena were nominated by their son, NKU sophomore Jibril McCaster, and both are alumni of NKU!
In Jibril's words, "They taught me values and the importance of getting an education. They’re the reason I’m here."
The student went on to explain that the nominees advocated and sacrificed for his success when others had all but given up. They worked multiple jobs, provided home-schooling, and throughout it all, managed to continue to serve their community. Together, this student and parent team has created multiple awards and opportunities for others within the Northern Kentucky region, promoting service, education, and respect for one another. In fact, that’s what Jibril said makes his parents stand out – they are “leaders, educators, and volunteers” who are not only champions for him, but also for our community.
NKU recognizes their service in support of their son, but also as an example of excellence here at NKU.
